Industry Overview

Education as an industry includes many opportunities in addition to teaching and the industry involves a wide variety of types of organizations.  Beyond teaching, working within education can include education consulting; higher education administration such as in student affairs, admissions, student services, and study abroad programs; education policy; teaching English abroad; international education; and education law. The links below will help you begin exploring these aspects of the field of Education. Although certified teaching opportunities are probably the most well-known job within this industry, there are teaching opportunities in private, independent, charter and parochial schools that do not require state certification and for which recent graduates from 4-year institutions are qualified! There are also public school Teaching Fellows programs that integrate you into teaching for two years while you obtain your Master in Education and the courses necessary for state certification.
