The default color of all prints is Hatchbox - True White.
If you would like another color, the list of swatches is here:
If you want a color other than True White, please consult the makerspace manager first.
Note: Not all colors are available. These are simply colors that the makerspace has seen and printed/sampled.
If you would like to gain access to queue / print 3D files, you will need to create an account via this link.
SimplyPrint Registration
(Note: Please upload a .gcode or .bgcode file into the queue. See the PrusaSlicer section for more information about slicing your file.)
After creating your account, you can queue your print, and the makersapce team will start the prints after verification.
When preparing to queue your print on SimplyPrint you will need to a .bgcode or .gcode file. To do this you will need to "slice" the file. SimplyPrint offers a built-in slicer that will work for simple files. There are also many stand-alone slicing softwares available. That said, the Makerspace uses and recommends the PrusaSlicer.
The PrusaSlicer is already installed on the Digital Design Studio computers, on the lower level of the Walsh Family Hall of Architecture.
The software is also free to download from their site (PrusaSlicer download).
We recommend that you use the configuration file generated by the Architecture Library Makerspace. The most recent version of the (.ini) configuration file can be found HERE. To import the configuration file select File -> Import -> Import Configuration Bundle... This will give you the most up-to-date setting on the printing profiles the Makerspace uses.
If you have any questions on this process or need help, please visit the Makerspace or email Matt Noffsinger at mnoffsin@nd.edu
If you modeled with SketchUp and want to verify your model will fit on the print bed, you can download this SketchUp file to verify with pre-generated print volumes for each machine.
SUBMIT YOUR FILES EARLY.
Almost every 3D file requires some troubleshooting, often at several stages.
The explicit requirement is file submission two weeks before the model is needed, but students are encouraged to submit as early as possible, especially if new to the process.
Have printability in mind from the beginning.
Use the tutorial videos provided on this site to learn basic strategies for keeping your model printable.
Having these strategies in play from the beginning will save you time and energy later, and minimize model cleanup.
Do your own modeling.
While Makerspace staff is more than happy to help you find resources or check your model for errors, it is not within our job description to do the modeling for you, or to spend excessive time fixing models.
Our goal is to provide you the resources and strategies to create a model you are proud of!
Have reasonable expectations.
Though the Makerspace is a free resource, and is equipped with multiple printers, there are some jobs that do not fit our capacity.
While we would love to help you print something colossal, it is not fair to other students and users of the space.
