How to reserve and use the CDS Sound Studio.

Quick Start Guide

Reserve Sound Booth Online

  • Reservations available in 30 minute blocks, up to 2 hours per day, up to 8 hours per week
  • Reservations available up to 6 weeks in advance
  • No food or drink is permitted

Reserve the Booth

Request the key from the 1st Floor Circulation Desk.

Use the Sound Booth

  • Lights: to turn on the lights, push the switch on the ceiling light strips. 
  • Hardware
    • Lenovo PC
    • Logitech Webcam
    • VOIP Phone (ND faculty/staff/student organizations - please bring your authorization code to make off-campus calls)
  • Software
    • Audacity
    • Panopto
    • Zoom

Clean Up the Booth and Return the Key

  • Return the equipment to original positions
  • Turn off the lights
  • Log off the computer, if necessary
  • Lock the Booth door
  • Return any accessories you borrowed
  • Return the key to the desk from which you borrowed it

Web Conferencing (Google Hangouts, Skype, Zoom, etc.)

  • Always perform test calls with the same settings and conditions you plan to use for your "real" call in advance, so you have time to troubleshoot any issues that may arise.​
  • If you wish to reserve a videoconference room, instead:

VOIP Calls

  • If you wish to use the VOIP phone to dial off-campus, you must use your own authorization code (issued by your own department/unit). Please have your authorization code handy!
     
  • To receive a call, direct the caller to dial (574) 631-7844.
