A company profile includes basic information like location, contact information, basic financials, a brief history of the company, and industry codes. There are often links within the company's profile to other, more substantive information about them such as a SWOT analysis, analysts reports, etc.

Access to public and private U.S and international business data, industry profiles, facts and figures, executive contact information, and much more. *More information is available for public companies. Information about private companies or subsidiaries is limited.

GuideStar Pro

IRS-recognized nonprofit organizations- information about them includes mission, programs, finances, and more. 

Statista

  • Provides access to statistical data from a variety of sources.
  • Functions well when searching by a broad keyword and allowing autocomplete to offer suggestions.
  • May find information on a company, the size of a product market, market segmentation in a broad market category, or even income level of potential target demographics by region.
  • Resources in Statista represented by an orange or red icon have multiple data sets in one place. Blue icons represent singular datasets.

SWOT Analyses

Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats! A SWOT analysis is a great resource that gives you a quick overview of a company's strategic situation. Business Insights: Essentials offers SWOTs for public companies. Business Source Complete offers SWOTs for public and some private companies.

If your company is public, search for it by name or ticker symbol and then look for a link to 'SWOT Reports' from the results. Not all public companies will have SWOTs available.

Capital IQ

Excellent source for company financials. If you cannot access Capital IQ by clicking the link above, use Ask a Business Librarian to let us know. We will add you to the access group.

Mergent Online

Respectable source for company financials including long term debt, capital stock, common size balance sheets and income statements, cash flow, etc. SEC filings are linked to within this database.
