Troubleshooting Capital IQ Login Issues (Browser)

Having trouble getting into Capital IQ on your web browser? Excel plugin not working? Do the steps below exactly in the order they appear. 
 

  1. Close ALL Microsoft Office apps (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, etc.).

  2. Go to okta.nd.edu. If not already signed in, sign in.

  3. Sign out of okta.nd.edu.


     

  4. Close all other browser tabs and windows except for this current page.

  5. Click this Capital IQ Logout link. It will clear your account of ALL connections to the Capital IQ server. If you do not see the screen below, keep clicking that link until you do.



     

  6. Close ALL browser windows and WAIT A COUPLE OF MINUTES before proceeding to Step. 7. In other words, wait a few minutes before trying to get into Capital IQ.

  7. Sign back into okta.nd.edu.

  8. Find and click the Capital IQ tile (shown below). You should be logged into the Capital IQ web portal.
     


     

  9. When you are done with Capital IQ, be sure to click the Logout button in the upper right corner. If you don't, you may continue to experience problems getting into the database the next time you want to use it. Repeat steps 1-7 above.


     

 

* You cannot have multiple instances of Capital IQ running. That is, you cannot be logged in to Capital IQ on more than one computer at a time. 

** If you are still having problems on your personal computer after you run through these steps, come to the Mahaffey Business Library and repeat steps 1-7 above on one of the computers in our space.

Troubleshooting Excel Plugin Issues

  1.  Are you able to log in to Capital IQ through okta.nd.edu?
    NO. Complete steps 1-8 above in the TROUBLESHOOTING CAPITAL IQ LOGIN ISSUES (BROWSER) section until you successfully log in. Proceed to step 2.
    YES. Proceed to step 2.

     
  2. Have you followed, in order, all of the steps below in the EXCEL PLUGIN INSTALLATION (WINDOWS) & LAUNCH section?
    NO. Uninstall the Excel plugin from your computer. Restart your computer. Follow the steps below to reinstall the Excel plugin and the steps to enable it.
    YES.
     Excellent! You're set to go.

 

* If you are still having problems on your personal computer after you run through these steps, come to the Mahaffey Business Library and repeat steps 1-8 above on one of the computers in our space.

Excel Plugin Installation (Windows) & Launch

  1. Close ALL Microsoft Office Apps.

  2. Click The All-In-One Full Installer.

    1. Click “Download.”

    2. Click “Download anyway.”

  1. Double-click the downloaded installer and follow the prompts to complete the installation.

    1. Click “Yes” when the “Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?" appears.

    2. Click “Next” when the Wizard box opens.

    3. Click the box “I agree to the terms of the license agreements.”

    4. Click “Next.”

    5. Click “Next in the “Office Plug-in Setup: Customize" box.

    6. Click Finish.

  1. Click the Registry Key

    1. Click on “Download.”

    2. Click on “Download anyway.”

    3. Select a location for the download and remember where it is.

    4. Double-click the downloaded file.

    5. Click “Run.”

    6. Click “Yes” when the “Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?" appears.

    7. Registry Editor window click “Yes.”

    8. Click OK.

  1. Restart your computer.

  2. Go to okta.nd.edu and sign in.

  3. Launch Excel and open a workbook.

  4. Select the "S&P Capital IQ" menu.


     

  5. If the menu is greyed out as shown above, click on the "Click to Enable" button as shown in 2.

  6. You will be presented with the Okta login screen.

  7. Once logged in, the choices under the S&P Capital IQ menu will appear in color.
