Journal articles and scholarly resources help you locate specific information about your topic. For architecture, this may include access to plans, sections, and elevations not found in books. Most databases allow you to refine your search and limit results to "peer reviewed" or "scholarly journals" - those that contain articles that have been reviewed for content prior to publication.
The top database for researching architecture is the Avery Index to Architectural Periodicals. This database allows you to limit to peer reviewed and/or scholarly resources, modify the date range, and search by specific journal name.
Finding Images in Avery is done by clicking on the title of the article and then looking for the "Document Feature"
The majority of article databases for architecture do not contain full-text articles. You have to find the article in other databases, in print, or via Interlibrary Loan.
