Getting a card at the public library

Why would I want a public library card?

A card from the public library can provide you with many options for leisure reading, as well as for research. You will be able to:

  • Check out books
  • Check out eBooks and eAudiobooks
  • Use subscription databases offered by the public library in your dorm room

How can I get one?

Did you know that Notre Dame students can get a St. Joseph County Public Library Card? Here's how:

  • Visit the Circulation Desk or sjcpl.org.
  • Fill out a simple form.
  • Be prepared to show a a picture id, such as your student id, driver's license, or other government-issued id card.
  • You must be a resident on campus or live in the St. Joseph County Public Library area of service.

You may be able to get a digital card that allows you to use ebooks and databases. You may also be able to go to a St. Joseph County Public Library location to pickup material in their curbside pickup. Request library material from St. Joseph County Public Library's website.
