Off-Campus and International Access to Library Resources

Find Online Resources

Electronic Journals, Books, Databases, Indexes and Other Online Resources

  • Always start from the library catalog or the library homepage to access online resources to ensure that you go through the library proxy server.
  • If you are not sure whether you are on the proxy server, look for proxy.library.nd.edu in the URL.
  • You will be asked to login with your NetID and Password.
  • Some databases are restricted to particular workstations on Notre Dame’s campus and are not available in other locations

Off-Campus Access Bookmarklet

Use the Off-Campus Access Bookmarklet to get quick access to online resources licensed by the Hesburgh Libraries.

Create a new bookmark with the following text as the URL:

javascript:void(location.href=%22http://proxy.library.nd.edu/login?url=%22+location.href);

Then, when you visit your favorite resource, click on the bookmark, and the page will reload and prompt you to log in with your NetID and password, if you haven't recently logged in.

Note: this will only work for online resources that the Hesburgh Libraries purchased or subscribed to, and if you move from one website to another, such as from JSTOR to Project Muse, you may have to use the bookmarklet again. If you get an error message, or if you have questions, please contact us.
