The resources recommended in this section provide access to general data that will inform research into your market space. Outside of the resources recommended below, you may also find useful information by performing an advanced search in Google to limit to government sites or xls filetypes to find data sets.

Google Advance Search

Add site:.gov to a search (e.g., indiana economic profile site:.gov)
Add filetype to search words (e.g., indiana demographics filetype:xls)

Recommended Databases

Statista
Provides access to data and data visualization on a wide range of topics. Easily searchable by keyword. When viewing a statistic, look at the SOURCE and DETAILS information which may provide leads to other data sources.
Data Planet Statistics
Provides access to statistical data produced by U.S. Federal agencies, States, private organizations, and major intergovernmental organizations. Provides access to extensive sets of demographic, commerce, consumption, pricing, and other political data on an international scale.
Social Explorer
Excellent data tool for determining demographic and population characteristics of the United States. Draws data from the U.S. Decennial Census as well as the American Community Survey which are easily accessible and exportable in the tables section of the database.
World Databank
Data platform providing access to a wide range of time series data beneficial to researching the economic conditions of potential market spaces. Contains multiple selectable databases including the World Development Indicators database.
