The following databases allow you to build a list of companies, both public and private, based on certain criteria (state, city, sales, etc.).



  • Use this to source products and discover over 500,000 commercial and industrial suppliers 
  • Small companies that manufacture very specific products are included
  • Can filter by manufacturer/distributor 



  • Very basic information about companies
  • In the 'Available Databases' section, hover over 'U.S. Businesses' OR 'U.S. New Businesses' and click SEARCH
  • Select the 'Advanced Search' tab to enter criteria (industry, location, sales volume, etc.)


Mergent Intellect

  • Very basic information about companies provided by Dun & Bradstreet
  • Select 'ADVANCED SEARCH' from the opening screen


Business Insights: Essentials

  • Select 'Company Finder' when you mouse/hover over the 'Companies' button at the top of the page  
  • Entering a SIC or NAICS code will return you a list of companies that classify themselves in that industry


Nexis Uni (formerly LexisNexis Academic)

  • From the home page, click on arrow next to 'Get Company Info.'  Select the 'Company Dossier' link in blue.
  • Select 'Create a Company List' from the tabs at the top
