Why Archive and Share Your Data?

Data management is not just about a plan; it is also about executing a strategy that benefits your research objectives and the community.

Some reasons to archive and share your data include, but are not limited to:

It may be required by a publisher to share and preserve access to related data
Your sponsor may require you to share it
Your data can advance research in other areas
Your work is more likely to be cited by others and increase your reputation within your discipline
The University may require you to preserve your data

Depending on your needs, there are many options available for archiving your data both locally and outside of Notre Dame. You may wish to deposit your content locally and link to it from a community repository, or vice versa.

In the digital age, research “data” comes in multiple formats, often within a single published work.

CurateND
Notre Dame's institutional repository. Deposit and illuminate as much of your portfolio of work and supplemental materials as you choose by selecting different access privileges and embargo periods that allow you to share research results with groups and regulate access to your works while in progress.
