Ireland on Film: Home

Irish films, films about Ireland and films relating to Ireland and the Irish. This guide includes films in the Media Collection of the Hesburgh Libraries, and information on the related book collections.

Locating Media in Hesburgh Library

DVDs and other video formats are kept in Hesburgh Library's Lower Level.  Media items are shelved in a closed area and are not available for physical browsing.  Use the ND Catalog to find an item's call number (for example, D 07040 or V 03320), then ask for that item at the Lower Level Service Desk.  Most materials can be checked out for several days.

Ireland on Film: Introduction

Films are constantly added to the Hesburgh Library collection. While some are easily available elsewhere, others are difficult to obtain in the U.S., and some films can only be viewed with players that work with European DVDs or videocassettes.

The arrangement of this guide is as follows:

I  DVD.

II  Other formats (VHS and online streamed video).

III Radharc Collection

IV Northern Ireland Collection

V Research Resources for Irish Studies and Film

Note: Instructors may place videos on reserve or have them streamed online for classes. Information and contact details are available in the Front Line Services Reserves FAQ.
