This guide provides recommendations for conducting research on industry. When you begin researching an industry, there are a number of helpful things to consider before navigating our recommended databases.

Starting Search Tips

• What is the NAICS or SIC code for the industry being researched?

• Does your industry intersect with other industries that you can draw information from?

• Does your industry have multiple synonymous keywords relating to it? (e.g. clothing, apparel, fashion, etc.)

• Consider searching outside of library resources in places like trade or professional associations as they can provide insight into industry trends.
