The Digital Services Act (DSA) regulates online intermediaries and platforms such as marketplaces, social networks, content-sharing platforms, app stores, and online travel accommodation platforms. Its main goal is to prevent illegal and harmful activities online and the spread of disinformation. The DSA works closely with the Digital Markets Act (DMA) which establishes a set of clearly defined objective criteria to qualify a large online platform as a "gatekeeper" and ensures that they behave in a fair way online and leave room for contestability.
